having known sarah since the early 2000's and as a fan of the show and of proper Hip Hop music on the radio I think it is sad news and even sadder that they plan to replace her with the gimmick of a wannabe rapper that is Chalie Sloth. It's like replacing a copy of "Step In The Arena" by Gang Starr from your record collection with a copy of "Rat Rapping" by Roland Rat, no actually it's worse, this is tragic. BBC 1xtra, you suck!

New music from me in 2009

First of all big up to everyone who supported my music in 2008, whether you bought a CD or downloaded the music, played it on radio or in the club or just enjoyed listening to it at home, thanks! 2009 is going to be a busy year for me with a lot of releases planned, already in the pipeline is a 7" vinyl realese of "The Ill Out" from "The Get Together" album. I also plan to drop a CD/vinyl EP release around early summer time. More news on the MC line up and track titles nearer the time. "Edstrumentals Vol.2" has been compiled and is in the mastering stage.

February will see the release of the "Multi-Tasking" CD by Cobane with the track "Sometimes" produced by yours truly. 2009 should also see the light of day for tracks I have done with Mudmowth ("Overarated") and Bobba Fresh ft. Manage (as yet untitled). Work will begin on "Evilution", a mix CD featururing many of my productions from the last 10 years (and maybe even further back) although there's no set release date for this as yet.

Me and K-Delight plan another live mix CD, but we have Serato now so that will add to what we can do, expect all kinds of turntable mayhem on that one. "The Enthusiast 2" is in progress, although that won't drop until I'm 100% happy with the tracks, it may be out in 2010 or even later, but there will be plenty of other new tracks out in the meantime. You should be able to catch me out and about at a night-spot near you too next year, with Conspicuous/Ottomanelf fam or just me on my own spinning tunes. Promoters please get in touch!

SIR SMURF LIL ALBUM LAUNCH

Big up to Karamak and Jehst for putting on a great jam at the Rhythm Factory last week to launch my man Sir Smurf Lil's brand new album 'A New Bloodline'. The place was rammed and they were many UK rap veteran's in attendance who I haven't seen for a while including Super T, Apollo, Cee-Why, Disorda, Yungun (who was hosting) and Mr Thing (who was holding it down nicely with the raw classics on the 1's and 2's). Big up to Iceman who was also there and Sonny Jim and Danny Spice who I met for the first time.

I arrived while M9 and Triple Darkness were on stage, it sounded like some very hardcore Hip Hop business to me and rather large on the big system. There was a beat battle between Apollo and Birmingham's Kelakovski (Apa-Tight was supposed to be there, but couldn't make it so Kelakovski stepped in at the last minute) and they both had some bangers but Apollo just took it for me, however, the crowd voted for Kelakovski and it was a really close call. From what I remember Kelakovski flipped Anita Baker's 'Sweet Love' something ridiculous and had some Dilla-esque b-lines and off kilter drums in another beat that sounded ill. I hope some footage of this goes up sometime as Apollo's second beat was my fave and I wanna hear that and all of them again.

Newcomer Jyager did his thing as did Cobane and Conspicuous who joined Smurf on stage. Smurf tore through a set of old and new material, with DJ Tree on the decks and joined on stage by Jehst, Kashmere, Parke and later T-Bear and Big Cakes who also smashed it. The highlights for me were Smurf and Conspicuous performing 'English Kids' (produced by the incredible S-Type and taken from The Colony's "The Empire" Mix CD) and Smurf performing 'Timothy' at the end of the set. This track always sounds banging when it's played loud and the crowd got really amped to it. This was a raw Hip Hop jam that seemed to run more smoothly than many I've been too and was good showcase for Sir Smurf and the extended YNR/Ottomanelf fam. Sir Smurf's CD 'A New Bloodline' is out now on YNR Productions.

Finally, after three years of late night trips to Conspicuous' studio, endless negotiations with artists and managers, last minutes sample clearences (yeah, right!) and a mix down from the legend that is L.G. I am pleased to announce that we finally got it together to bring you..."The Get Together". This album is a collabo with me on the beats and Colony emcee/producer, label honcho and world backgammon champion Conspicuous (The Coroner) on the mic with guest spots the cream of UK Hip Hop talent. This is the second full length album I have produced, the first being my debut "The Enthusiast" back in 2004 and nothing's changed but the weather (even that hasn't changed much, it's still rainy old Britain). If you like that raw Hip Hop with a classic feel then I hope you can show us some support and cop the CD. Stay tuned for news on some vinyl releases of tracks from this project.
